A big day out in the Frankston - Langwarrin habitat corridor on the 29th of November

On Sunday 29th of November, nature lovers from all over the the Mornington Peninsula will gather to explore precious bush reserves and to learn about the ecosystems, flora & fauna of the region.

The event will bring together people from all over the Mornington Peninsula who are working and fighting to save remnant bush, creeks, wetlands, coastal strips, and native flora & fauna.

Everyone with a love of nature and a concern for the peninsula's future is invited.

The activities will commence at 10:30am at the Excelcior Drive entrance to The Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve, Frankston.

Guided walks will be conducted at two locations:

  • The Pines Flora & Fauna Reserve (Excelsior Drive).
    - From 10:30 (maps will be provided).
  • The wildflower-rich Westerfield Heritage property
    - From 12:30, at 86-96 Robinson’s Rd (driveway on south side of road). Hosted by Rod Quantock and the owners Simon & Joyce Welsh

Other activities will include:

  • Discussions about how we can work together to protect the flora, fauna and bushland of Franskston, Langwaren & the Mornington Peninsula.
  • Speakers presenting on various topics in ecology and conservation (including bandicoots, sugar gliders,  orchids etc.).
  • The Frankston-Langwarrin nature photography competition will be launched.
  • Educational displays.

Note: there are no toilets at either location.

Note: The day will be postponed if the predicted temperature is above 35°  or a Fire Danger Rating of severe or higher is issued.

  • Educational displays (at the Excelsior drive entrance to the Pine Reserve).
